MSC Seascape Itinerary, Current Position, Ship Review

When booking, I highly suggest you sign up for your preferred main dining room time, so you won’t be disappointed while on the ship. A sit-down meal can be an excellent alternative to the buffet, which tends to be crowded throughout the day. Cruise Critic is not a booking agent and does not charge any service fees to users of our site. When you book with one of our partners, please be sure to check their site for a full disclosure of all applicable fees as required by the U.S.

Adult fun

With MSC Cruises expanding its offerings to the U.S. market, now might just be the perfect time to test out this brand by booking a Caribbean cruise on MSC Seascape. The nightlife on MSC Cruises was lively as well, with live music, nightly parties, and a dance club open until sunrise. Other locales with specialty menus include the Sports Bar on deck 8 with the most extensive list of beers on the ship. Unlike other cruise lines though, the Kaito Teppanyaki dinner includes a few pieces of sushi and a grilled starter as well prior to the main course.

So, we never had issues finding a table somewhere within the venue. Overall, we found the food quality for breakfast and lunch in the buffet to be average at best. The restaurant could certainly benefit from some better organization. Perhaps, it should be set up more like a food hall with themed areas serving a specific type of cuisine. This large, yet intimate venue is home to a variety show which highlights several unique acts each evening. Since this was an inaugural cruise, we suspect any of the kinks we encountered will be resolved as the ship continues to sail the U.S. market.

MSC Seascape is 20 decks tall[8] Her gross tonnage is 169,400 GT. She has a maximum passenger capacity of 5,179 passengers and 1,648 crew members.[9] The ship holds emphasis on outdoor spaces, with a narrower superstructure and larger promenade areas. Many safety features, environmentally friendly policies, and other minor details are borrowed from her sister ship MSC Seashore. A new attraction known as the Robotron has been featured near the ship's pool deck aft, where the Marina Pool lies on deck 18.

As MSC has announced plans for an increased presence in the country, Seascape will serve as its new U.S. flagship, and the 20-deck vessel's debut marks an expansion of the line's stateside footprint. The image is representative only; the size, layout and furniture may vary (within the same cabin category). Following its christening in New York, MSC Seascape will homeport in Miami, from where it's scheduled to sail Eastern and Western Caribbean voyages. Having said that, whether at Le Cabaret Rouge, Chora Theater, The Atrium or anywhere else where live music was performed, the response from our fellow passengers was steadily enthusiastic. It was not uncommon to see couples dancing to the beat of any songs that live bands performed at the Atrium or populating Le Cabaret Rouge's dance floor with earnest gusto.

The 4500-passenger "Seaside EVO" ship design is an enlarged version of MSC's Seaside-Class. Both classes were developed for year-round operations in warm climates. Seaside-EVO ships have larger MSC Yacht Club (Suite-only complex), larger public areas, more outdoor whirlpools, more specialty restaurants with alfresco dining areas (on Promenade Deck 8), more staterooms. It is big enough to offer all of the amenities cruisers want in a cruise ship of that size. Designed to sail in warm climates, it has lots of outdoor space, even al fresco dining in the buffet and specialty restaurants. A real plus for people who want to spend as much time outside as possible.

Family fun

At 169,400 gross tonnage and a capacity for 5,877 guests, it is just 7% smaller than the largest Meraviglia class ship. Launched last November, MSC Seascape is MSC Cruises’ newest cruise ship sailing the sunny waters of the Caribbean. It's no secret that MSC's Seashore EVO-class ships are meant to attract American passengers. This is not only evident from the not-too-subtle nods to New York City -- including a 10-foot-tall replica of the Statue of Liberty and a shopping/entertainment area named Times Square. The 400-seat Le Cabaret Rouge is a fun, intimate venue, modeled after Paris' Moulin Rouge. Bar service was supremely efficient and there's not a bad seat in the house.

Services and Wi-Fi on MSC Seascape

Beyond visiting this ship’s eateries and bars, you’ll find near-endless ways to keep yourself occupied. Travelers of all ages and types will find fun around every corner, thanks to the more than 300 entertainment activities the MSC cruise ship offers at any given time. Where the ship's cabins really shine, though, is in the luxurious MSC Yacht Club. Perched at the top of MSC Seascape, across Decks on the aft, the Yacht Club is MSC's ship-within-a-ship suite experience and the undisputed crown jewel on MSC Seascape.

Located all the way up on Deck 20 and accessible only to passengers staying in the Yacht Club, this pool feels bigger than the Marina Pool and is surrounded by plenty of lounge chairs, a solarium and hot tubs. On the opposite side of the spectrum, the adults-only Infinity Pool at the aft of the ship on Deck 8 is the place to be if you're traveling without children (or you're relying on the Doremiland Kids Club for daycare). The views of the ship's wake here are as relaxing as they are enticing, especially when enjoyed from a sunbed within the pool. A 1,200-seater, the two-deck theater feels intimate enough to the point that there's hardly a bad seat in the house.

A much different story is served up on all five of MSC Seascape's specialty restaurants. It stands to reason that if something costs extra, it will invariably be better than the complimentary options. But on MSC Seascape, the difference felt more pronounced than other similar cruise lines. Your culinary preferences will determine which of the specialty restaurants is best.

Older children are also welcome at Doremiland's dedicated spaces. The Young Club caters to tweens (ages 12 to 14), and features video game consoles (including PlayStation5, Xbox X Series, Nintendo Switch) foosball and ping pong tables. The Teen Club is meant for kids ages 15 and 17, and features its own private entrance. Video game consoles also feature heavily here, while a 'Chill Out' area provides a space to hang out, engage in social media and play games like ping-pong, foosball and billiards.

There are ample ways to enjoy a little retail therapy when you’re aboard an MSC Seascape cruise. Whether you want to shop for your duty-free favorites, tech, tobacco, liquor, snacks, fashion accessories, leather goods, perfumes, cosmetics, sunglasses or just a cool souvenir, you can do so. Whether or not you book an Aurea room, you can still visit the MSC Aurea Spa and enjoy all the relaxation options that await there. Whether you prefer a massage, want a new look from the salon, or crave a quiet moment in the thermal area, you can find all this and more.

The complex features 131 suites as well as its own restaurant and an exclusive (and expansive) sun deck with a pool, whirlpools and a buffet. Despite the high number of decks, MSC Seascape manages to deliver intimate spaces that do a good job at limiting overcrowding. One way the ship achieves this is by breaking up the traditional main dining room into four smaller restaurants spread across Decks 6-8, each with distinct décor and feel but identical service and menus. With 20 bars and lounges to choose from, cruisers are spoiled for choice on MSC Seascape. Better yet, many cocktails cost less than $9, which also happens to be the maximum price covered by MSC's Easy Drink Package. If you're staying in the Yacht Club, your fare includes all drinks at any of the ship's bars or restaurants (except those yummy margaritas at Hola! Tacos).

This setup is much better than the often stuffy solariums you find on other mega-ships. MSC Seascape is a 154K gross ton ship featuring about 2270 staterooms and carrying over 5,100 guests at double-occupancy. The ship’s Yacht Club, the ship within a ship concept, is home to 131 suites, as well as several decks of private amenities.

Further, it is one deck below the youth area, making it a great option for families. The vessel is fully compliant with IMO's "Safe Return to Port" requirement (how long the cruise ship should remain safe for evacuation). In November 2017 MSC ordered 2x "Seaside EVO" class ships from Fincantieri (contract value EUR 1,8 billion). The new vessels are bigger (16 m longer, GT-tons larger, with 200 more cabins / 467 more passengers) in comparison to Seaview and Seaside. Newbuilds' deliveries were scheduled for 2021 (Seashore) and 2023 (Seascape). With Seaside EVO, MSC had a total investment of EUR 10,5 billion into 12 new vessels with scheduled deliveries by 2026.

I watched a friend drive the simulated race car, on the famed Italian track at Monza, Italy. If you are the type of cruiser who loves a new ship, this is a great one to book. Now that it has been sailing for a couple of months, operations seemed to flow smoothly while I was onboard. A week-long round-trip cruise from Miami departing April 9, with stops in Cozumel, George Town, Grand Cayman and more, starts at $1,136 based on double occupancy, according to the line's website. That includes most food and drinks such as regular coffee, tea and water.
